One of the most versatile lenses available, Canon's EF 70-200mm f / 2.8L IS III USM is a L-series telephoto zoom, distinguished by its brilliant design and advanced optics. Ideal for a variety of subjects, from portraits to sports, the fast constant maximum aperture f / 2.8 stands out in difficult lighting conditions and also offers greater control over depth of field to isolate subjects. The optical layout uses a fluorite element and five UD elements to suppress chromatic aberrations and color fringes in order to obtain a high degree of clarity across the zoom range. An air sphere coating is also featured and works to reduce flare and ghosting for greater color fidelity and contrast in all conditions.

To complement the speed and the optics, there is an optical Image Stabilizer, which compensates for 3.5 camera shake stops to better allow the handheld to work and in low light situations. A ring-type USM and an internal focus mechanism also offer fast, quiet and accurate autofocus performance, as well as full-time manual focus replacement. In addition, this lens is weatherproof for use in harsh environmental conditions.

The versatile telephoto zoom is designed for Canon's full-size EF mount DSLRs, but can also be used with APS-C models, where it offers a 112-320mm equivalent focal length range.
The constant bright maximum aperture of f / 2.8 offers consistent performance across the zoom range and offers remarkable control over depth of field for working with selective focus techniques.
One fluorite element and five ultra-low-dispersion glass elements visibly reduce color fringe and chromatic aberrations to achieve high color clarity and fidelity.
An air sphere coating (ASC) has been applied to the lens elements to reduce backlight burn and ghosting to maintain light transmission and high contrast in bright lighting conditions.
An optical image stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 3.5 stops at shutter speed to allow better work in low light conditions and at slower shutter speeds. In addition to the standard single-shot IS mode, a second mode is also available, optimized for panning.
A ring-type ultrasonic motor (USM), together with an internal focus system, is employed to provide fast, accurate and quiet autofocus performance, as well as full-time manual focus replacement.
The focus limiter switch allows you to restrict the focus to two different intervals to suit different applications: 3,9'-infinity or 8,2'-infinity.
The eight-blade rounded diaphragm contributes to a pleasant out-of-focus quality that benefits from the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.
A weather-resistant design protects the lens from dust and moisture to allow it to be used in harsh conditions. In addition, fluorine coatings have also been applied to the front and rear lens elements for added protection against fingerprints and smudges.
The removable rotating tripod collar is included and benefits working with the lens on top of a tripod or monopod.
